CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles has received four proposals to develop workforce housing on a town-owned parcel located between Cassatt Parkway and Old Cape Charles Road, officials announced this week.
The project is intended to help address the growing need for affordable housing options for local workers, particularly those employed in hospitality, public safety, education, and other essential sectors. The site, identified several years ago as a potential location for workforce development, is among the few remaining town-controlled properties suitable for residential construction.
According to town staff, a review committee will begin evaluating the proposals following the Thanksgiving holiday. The evaluation process will include an assessment of project design, financial feasibility, alignment with local housing goals, and the developers’ ability to deliver units that remain attainable for Cape Charles’ year-round workforce.
