CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council has approved the first extension of its Waste Collection and Disposal Services contract with P.W. Davis Disposal, securing continued service through November 30, 2026, with modest rate increases tied to the Consumer Price Index.
The extension covers the period from December 1, 2025 to November 30, 2026 and is the first of three optional renewal years included in the original agreement. The Town awarded the contract to P.W. Davis Disposal on November 21, 2024, with an initial one-year term beginning December 1, 2024, and the option to renew for up to three additional years.
Under the contract, annual rate adjustments are based on the Consumer Price Index. Davis Disposal proposed a 3% CPI-based increase for the upcoming term. The new rates, effective December 1, 2025, include:
- Residential receptacles: $20.11, up from $19.52
- 8-yard dumpster at 201 Mason Avenue: $335.78, up from $326.00
- 4-yard dumpster at 201 Mason Avenue: $309.00, up from $300.00
- 8-yard dumpster at the Harbor: $360.50, up from $350.00
Town officials said sufficient funds are already budgeted in the FY 2026 budget to cover the increases. The extension ensures uninterrupted waste collection and disposal services for residents and businesses as the Town continues its multi-year contract with Davis Disposal.
