CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council has scheduled a work session on Jan. 15th at 6:00 P.M. to review and discuss the current Beach Master Plan. The plan, a significant undertaking aimed at shaping the future of the town’s beachfront, remains in its initial phase with no timeline provided for the start of project design work.
The council has yet to engage VHB, the consulting firm associated with the project, for any design-related tasks. The Beach Master Plan was divided into two phases: the development of the plan and the design of projects that could arise from it. To date, the town has spent $99,840 on the first phase.
Phase one has focused on research, analysis, community outreach, and the development of conceptual ideas to address the town’s beach-related needs and aspirations. However, officials have not indicated when the second phase—which will involve the detailed design of specific projects—might commence.
The work session provides an opportunity for council members to evaluate progress, address public concerns, and outline potential next steps for the plan’s implementation or total rejection.
Further updates on the Beach Master Plan will likely depend on funding, community input, and priorities set during the work session.
