CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Police Department released its activity report for December, showcasing a range of efforts to maintain public safety in the small coastal town.
The department responded to 126 calls for service within Cape Charles and assisted with four calls outside the town limits. Officers conducted 56 building checks and logged 70 hours on foot patrol, ensuring a visible presence in the community. Additionally, 21 hours were spent patrolling the Bay Creek area.
Traffic enforcement remained a priority, with officers issuing 15 summonses and addressing four instances involving golf carts. Four parking tickets were issued during the month.
Law enforcement assistance included aiding the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office in three incidents and supporting the Virginia State Police once.
Arrests during December were minimal, with one misdemeanor arrest recorded for disorderly conduct involving a drunk in public (DIP). No felony arrests were reported.
The department plans to continue its focus on traffic safety, building security, and community patrols as it moves into the new year.
