CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council has announced that a public hearing will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The hearing will take place at the Cape Charles Civic Center located at 500 Tazewell Avenue. The purpose of the hearing is to receive feedback from the community regarding the proposed 2024 Community Strategic Plan.
The proposed plan outlines the town’s goals and objectives for the coming year and is a crucial document for guiding future development and initiatives. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearing and share their thoughts on the proposed plan.
Those unable to attend the hearing in person can still participate by accessing the proposed plan on the town’s official website, www.capecharles.org. The document can be found under the “Agendas and Minutes/Town Council” section.
Why worry about next year when you haven’t finished this year or the year before. Or the year before. Or the year before. Or the year before.
Since the majority of the STR / hotel / hostel owners do not live in Cape Charles they cannot vote! As residents we need to vote for a council that supports fulltime residents and restrictions on STRs before it’s too late.
Just doing away with the CC Personal Property tax would be a good start at promoting fulltime residents. That alone may slow down the mass exodus of fulltime residents to the “suburbs” of CC. (Cheriton, Tower Hill, Kings Creek Landing etc).
To make up for any financial deficit from the termination of the PP tax just increase the license amounts on STRs!
Get out and VOTE!

I fully agree, Phil. To date, nothing has been done by town officials or town council to address these out of control STRs in the historic district. To the contrary, they’re driving FT residents out in droves. It’s so frustrating.
Cape Charles has become one gigantic hotel. Business is all that matters to this council not the residents! You can also thank this council and the STRs for your high tax bills! Vote them all out before it’s too late.
