Cape Charles, VA — The Town Manager of Cape Charles shared a comprehensive update this week highlighting key meetings, community engagement efforts, and ongoing projects throughout the town.
The week began with a brief meeting among department heads, followed by a tour of the historic Trinity Methodist Church to assess the best allocation of space for various town departments.
In staffing news, five candidates were interviewed for the position of Events Coordinator and Assistant to the Town Manager. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the upcoming Draft Budget Public Hearing Meeting, with the Finance Department collaborating closely on final details.
The Town Manager also visited the local library to receive progress updates on renovation efforts and attended a planning meeting for SailFest 2026, the popular annual event drawing visitors to the waterfront.
Further community collaboration was emphasized through a productive meeting with Ryan Peake regarding the Cape Charles Volunteer Fire Department’s needs. The fire department will begin submitting weekly reports to the Town Manager for ongoing oversight.
Additionally, the Town Manager engaged with both current and past Presidents of the Cape Charles Historic District Civic League to explore volunteer opportunities supporting infrastructure projects within the Historic District. Discussions were also held with the owners of Lemontree and the Theatre to strengthen partnerships with local businesses.
Citizen interaction remains a priority, with the Town Manager dedicating lunch and evening hours to walking through downtown and the Historic District to connect with residents and listen to their concerns.
