This letter was sent via anonymous email, however, it does bring up some issues regarding the somewhat incestuous relationship between the Town of Cape Charles and Cape Charles Main Street. Is this oversight, or should there be more of a separation between the metaphorical ‘church and state’? This citizen has questions.

Lines that cross:
Council members with leadership roles on Cape Charles Main Street.
Town Manager on the Board of Directors for Cape Charles Main Street.
Cape Charles Annual Budget that includes 80k for Cape Charles Main Street.
Cape Charles Town Manager who has not registered his vehicle in Virginia.
Ask yourself….as you pay your real estate taxes, personal property tax
…..who actually represents the town of Cape Charles?
The comment seems intended to cast mistrust in the relationship between the Town and Main Street and pointed at the Town Manager. I do not wish to be part of what appears personal agenda but just want to say that I support Main Street and working closely with the town will allow it to fulfill its mission more effectively any impropriety can be monitored and. Addressed by the members exercising their duties and by any citizen
AND
WHY
Is there a personal property tax to begin with ???
Back door taxation
Why should anyone pay to own anything??
Your taxed when purchasing
Your taxed when registering
Now your also taxed to own
Stop that illegal taxation
Not done in most states
