To those citizens that had the opportunity to use U.S. 13 on Friday and Saturday they can better understand why Granville Hogg wanted NO CREDIT for the installation of the traffic light or the issues created along the U.S. 13 corridor during the Tourist Season Weekends.
On Saturday it was noted by several persons that Southbound traffic was backed up for over a mile, from the stoplight at the Cheriton Stoplight to the stoplight at Cape Charles (S.R. 184 Stone Road) That does not include the inability to enter Food Lion or McDonald’s shopping area when driving Northbound because the traffic light at (S.R. 184, U.S. Bus 13 was RED backing up traffic to (S.R. 684, Parsons Circle).
Also VDOT and Northampton County Board of Supervisors are aware of the ponding at the entrance to Food Lion and McDonald’s Shopping area. There is an issue over which body is to pick up the shovel. For now it is to wet to address the problem. Once it dries out a little, there should be a correction to the grade.
The local citizens will be able to determine if the corrections to grade addresses the problem after the next rainfall event. The suggestion to the local folk is to modify your shopping habits to Wednesday and Thursday and allow the unknowing to patronize the stoplights on Fridays until Saturday evening.
