VIRGINIA BEACH, VA: — Congresswoman Jen Kiggans released the following statement on the results of the Democratic primary:
“The results of tonight’s primary give voters a clear choice: a self-serving politician who used public office to enrich herself as a former member of Congress, or a current proven leader who brings people together and gets results for our military and families in Virginia’s Second District.
Elaine Luria embodies everything that’s gone wrong in Washington. She used her position in Congress to line her own pockets, made $21 million trading stocks for four years while in office, and then said it was ‘bullshit’ to ban insiders like her from using their positions to get rich. Elaine Luria didn’t go to Washington to serve Hampton Roads. She went to enrich herself.
Hampton Roads deserves better. My priority will always be lowering costs, putting more money back in your pocket, standing up for our families, and working across the aisle to deliver real results. That’s the choice in this election, and over the next 91 days, I will continue working hard to earn the support of every voter in our district.”
