CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Residents looking to engage directly with local leaders will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns over coffee this week. Councilwoman Tara Ashworth, joined by Clayton Newman, will host a “Coffee and Chat” event at the Cape Charles Coffee House on Thursday, May 15, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Ashworth plans to discuss pressing topics currently on the town council’s agenda, including beachfront management, budget considerations, and updates on the municipal building. The informal gathering aims to foster open dialogue with community members, providing a relaxed setting for sharing ideas and feedback on issues impacting the town.
Attendees are encouraged to come with questions, share their thoughts, or simply listen as town leaders discuss the path forward for Cape Charles.

Let’s see if she decides or wants to discuss the former town employee embezzlement accusations. Perhaps the firing of a cape charles police officer? The comments made by another council member? Can we bring up the employee who stole 250,000 from the pentagon and why they are yet still keep him on with the town after all these years? Even after firing him and giving him another position.
I feel like we are supposed to appreciate this – but announcing a coffee hour on a weekday morning 2 days prior seems totally insincere. Here are three questions these council people need to be asked – and I hope they read this:
1) How is it that you and the rest of the Town Council and Planning Commission allowed “zoning code maneuvers” to turn the Seabreeze Apartments into one of the most valuable pieces of real estate on the Eastern Shore (30 units at $500k a piece = $15mm) while none of the economic beneficiaries have agreed to do anything for the people of Cape Charles nor the displaced Seabreeze residents?
2) How is it that you failed to care what other Cape Charles landowners thought about this and voted in favor of fixing and flipping a twice condemned building that will one day fall victim to the Chesapeake?
3) In light of the Seabreeze re-zoning, do you feel you remain qualified to represent the tax payers of Cape Charles and retain your seat on Town Council or would you like to Resign?
What conspirators might hatch up in hours of deceit?
They like to schedule meet and greet and coffee hours or whatever they want to call them when the real citizens of town have better things to do like work a real job to take care of their families. They have all the retirees and rich folk who have nothing better to do, or local store owners who can close shop whenever they want, come together to plot against the community and take over the town. What are we going to do today Brain? Try to take over the world! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILIES! Just filling their deep pockets.
Satan is living in Cape Charles, in the dunes! If you spell dunes backwards it spells SATAN! All the properties in town will be become short term rentals and Satan will act as the cleaning lady so he can plant seeds OF DESPAIR! Chatting over coffee is evil!!!!!!! The zoning administrator will deny deny deny! Why can’t a STR my ADU?
WHY CAN’T I STR MY ADU??????????????????????????????????????
For the record, Councilperson Ashworth said at the meeting last night that these “coffees” are going on every day there is a Town Council meeting. Still much less than a half measure.
These people don’t want to be accountable to you, they just want to pretend.
No taxation without representation.
TOWN COUNCIL – RESIGN NOW
You people have ruined Cape Charles and Onancock too. Please stop the madness and go back where you came from.
