Virginia Democrats suffered a major legal defeat after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene in a high-stakes redistricting dispute, leaving intact a Virginia Supreme Court ruling that invalidated a voter-approved congressional map overhaul.
The justices denied state Democrats’ emergency request to block the Virginia high court’s decision, which found the amendment process violated the state constitution because lawmakers advanced the proposal after early voting had already begun in the required intervening election cycle.
SCOTUS acted in a brief unsigned order and no justice publicly dissented.
The Virginia Supreme Court ruled May 8 in a 4-3 decision that the procedural defect “incurably taints the resulting referendum vote,” effectively killing Democrats’ effort to redraw congressional districts ahead of the 2026 midterms.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court denied Virginia Democrats’ attempt to restore their unconstitutional 10-1 Congressional map:

Dang. Finally, some good news. I’m a political moderate although I’ve voted for a few more Democrats than Republicans over the last half Century. That being said, I was pleased with the Court’s decision. The Dem’s gerrymandering slicktrick would have effectively canceled my vote no matter who I voted for. Now the Dems are heavily playing their RaceCards attempting to piss off my Black friends and promote their far left agenda.

We’re living in historical times and most people don’t have a clue. Or they don’t care! This is the beginning of the end of the great experiment. Extremists on either side have taken control. They only care.about their own ideas or beliefs. That wasn’t how our country was built. Equal consideration is a must.We are falling and will hit rock bottom sooner than we all will like. Both Parties are at fault! …..greed is the culprit! Whether its wealth taken directly from the people ( big businesses) or in.the form of taxes.Then distributed has the government feels fit. This obviously leads to voting for the highest giver. My father once said..” When there’s more depending on the government for a check the country will implode”. I think he was right.

If 47% of this country stopped paying their taxes, it would get their attention very fast and is certainly more peaceful than the alternative.
