This Winter of 2025, for the first time, Eastern Shore Birding will offer THREE field trips to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on the first Saturday of each winter month – January 4, February 1, and March 1. The meeting place is the parking lot behind the CBBT toll office on the Eastern Shore side of the CBBT. These field trips will meet at 9:00 am and last for 3 hours, instead of the usual 2 hours, so there will be no need to rush.
The cost for each field trip is $15 per person, due to the requirement that we pay for the time of the CBBT police escort.
n addition, each car will be responsible for the one-way toll cost. Each attendee must complete the attached form and email it back to me as soon as possible.
For the January 4 field trip, please return the attached form by December 27. For the February 1 field trip, please return it to me by January 21.
For the March 1 field trip, please return the completed form to me by February 19. We do have a limit of 15 participants, so to guarantee your spot, please send payment to Birding Eastern Shore, Inc. at PO Box 193, Franktown, VA 23354.
If you want to wait until the day of the trip to pay, please let them know when you email your form to them at info@birdingeasternshore.org. Bring your own snacks, beverages, and warm clothing. We will have binoculars available to borrow if you do not have your own.
Gary Smith and Helen Belencan will lead a field trip to Chincoteague NWR on Saturday, January 18, at 2:00 pm, meeting at the Queens Sound Boat landing. Please text or call Gary Smith at 803-292-6883 to sign up for this trip.
On Thursday, February 13, Joette Borzik, Maggie Long, and Paul Anderson will lead a field trip to the Edward S. Brinkley Nature Preserve in Northampton County, at 8:00 am.
