Celebrate love – and the love for the Eastern Shore
CAMBRIDGE, MARYLAND—The Eastern Shore Candle Company (ESCC), known for its candles inspired by beautiful moments near the Chesapeake Bay, has a scent for everyone this Valentine’s Day.
From the gardener to the sailor, and from the beach lover to the “galentine” and beyond, there is a scent from the ESCC that is sure to stir up beautiful memories as soon as its loved recipient lights it up.
“Anytime one can experience great love in one’s life,” says Tracie Van Dorpe, ESCC owner and founder. “It is a gift. I love the Eastern Shore, just as she is.”
For those who can’t make it to one of the 15+ boutiques carrying ESCC, consider picking two candles in the Heron Gift Set or three in the new Mini Trio Set for beautifully wrapped, shipped-to-your-door gifts.
FOR THE ADVENTUROUS ONE:
Starry Nights & Firelight, also known as the “campfire candle” and the best selling candle of Van Dorpe’s line, is the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for the adventurous person. Memories of nights around a fire are stirred upon smelling the bold notes of smoky wood, cedar, pine birth, whispers of earthy spice, oakmoss and crushed leaves.
FOR THE BEACH LOVER:
Either one of the two beachy ESCC candles, A Beach Day in Cape Charles and A Beach Day in Assateague, would make the perfect gift for a beach loving valentine. Strike a match to these candles and unleash the aromas of salty air, wild daisies, gardenia and dune grass.
FOR THE FLOWER POWER GAL:
For the valentine that can’t wait for those daffodils to peek up out of the earth, The Garden Tour is a great gift option. Let a burst of heady floreals, spring greens, and rich, new earth fill the air and bring back beautiful memories for the garden-lover.
FOR THE SAILOR:
It’s not an Eastern Shore Candle Company without at least one candle that a sailor would love! Tidewater Sky is a complex and graceful scent for the person who loves to be by the water, with sweet water, sea minerals, cedar, fern and geranium stirring up memories of the last sail at sea. Another beautiful candle for the boat-loving valentine is the new The Old Lighthouse, which features an illustration of the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse and the cozy scents of old wood, marine and sea salt folding into a light touch of moss and tabac.
FOR THE GALENTINE:
Give every gal pal the I Wish Brunch Could Last Forever candle, which brings back memories of crisp linens and mimosas when lit. Anyone would want to raise a glass to this delightful blend of crisp citrus, sparkling champagne and just a hint of sugar.
Sourcing the best ingredients is the cornerstone of each ESCC candle. All of the candles are hand-poured in Van Dorpe’s studio in Cambridge with premium ingredients, including coconut soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and cotton wicks. The gentle wave of gray wax on top of each new ESCC candle shows that it is hand-poured, and also serves as a nod to the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
The wax is poured into glass vessels and accented with a piece of tied nautical twine. Once the candles have cooled, Van Dorpe places each candle into its signature box, which features the scent’s unique illustration, a brief history of ESCC, its heron logo, and a whimsical “HELLO FROM THE EASTERN SHORE” message on the flap.
