The Northampton and Accomack County Democratic Committees will host a candidate forum featuring two Democrats vying to take on Republican Congressman Scott Taylor or his Primary opponent, Mary Jones, in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. The forum will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at the Onley Town Center, 25020 Shore Parkway in Onley, across from the Four Corners Shopping Center. The doors open at 6 pm; the forum starts at 6:30. Come early if you wish to submit a question.
The Democratic candidates participating in the forum are:
- Karen Mallard, a UVA graduate, veteran teacher in the Virginia Beach school system and Virginia Education Association, veteran community and Democratic Party activist;
- Elaine Luria, a Naval Academy graduate, retired 20-year Navy Surface Warfare Officer and nuclear engineer, and Norfolk businesswoman.
The forum will be moderated by Gene Rossi, a former candidate for Lieutenant Governor with a 27-year career as a federal prosecutor. Questions will be gathered by the Northampton and Accomack Democratic Committees’ Executive Board and from the audience. Arrive early if you wish to submit a question.
