The Eastern Shore of Virginia Community Foundation has awarded the Eastern Shore Literacy Council a grant in the amount of $15,000. The Eastern Shore Community Foundation awards grants to nonprofit groups on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with a focus on program areas that strengthen the community beyond the grant period.
There is a time limit of five years between grant applications. The Eastern Shore Literacy Council’s grant request will upgrade the computer equipment in the office, as well as purchasing several laptops for use by tutors. The current equipment is over seven years old.

This grant award dovetails nicely into the updates to current online resources as well as purchasing the equipment, so it can be installed when Eastern Shore Literacy Council makes a move into the new academic building of the Eastern Shore Community College.
