Yes, Roxi is still with us, her time is unknown at this point. We have had some interest in her, and hope something will work out for her soon. If something else comes in and we don’t have room, she will be the first out, unfortunately.

If you really love them, peacefully put them to sleep. We cannot save them all, nor should we place them in situations where, as illustrated here in the Mirror, “dog walkers and pet sitters” will be a substitute for owners who devote their free time to training, socializing and enriching the lives of these animals.
The Melfa facility has the most devoted staff it’s ever had in my memory. Its employees and volunteers make extraordinary efforts to find good homes for the animals in their care or to transfer them to animal rescue organizations with large pools of good adopters. The last two-plus years of economic chaos have been hard on middle- and lower-middle-income families, but hardest on animals; they’re being neglected, abused, and abandoned in record numbers. The Melfa facility is doing everything it can to cope with these problems. Admittedly, euthanasia is sometimes the only solution, but the facility deserves the utmost in support from the residents and county governments of both Accomack and Northampton Counties.
