Despite withering criticism from the Northampton Board of Supervisors, the Eastern Shore of Virginia Broadband Authority (ESVBA) has been budgeting and pushing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) services in new locations along the lower Eastern Shore. It was announced last week that these services will now be available in Sanford, Cheapside, Cape Charles and Accomac.
The Mirror contacted ESVBA about when FTTH might be available in the town of Cape Charles proper (Historic District, Bay Creek). ESVBA is hoping to open two new areas per month as they broaden their FTTH coverage. Assuming they continue to fund FTTH in the 2019 budget (which starts in July 2018), ESVBA is hoping to open Cape Charles sometime late summer of 2018.

What was the reason for the withering criticism? We don’t need it, we don’t deserve it, they don’t like us?
Note: The criticism was aimed at the broadband authority for not moving fast enough, not against Cape Charles.
