RICHMOND — The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will hold a virtual public meeting Wednesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. to discuss updates to the First Landing State Park master plan. The meeting will be online, and participants will need to register to attend.
To register, visit: https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/masterplan.
DCR staff will provide an overview of the proposed phased development plan including:
- Renovations to 20 cabin interiors and exteriors
- Construction of a 6-bedroom lodge and four 3-bedroom cabins
- Replacement of and improvements to staff residences
- Upgrades to the 64th Street boat ramp, dock, parking area and site drainage
- Improvements to 205 campsites
- Expansion of the Trail Center parking area by 40 spaces
First Landing is one of the busiest Virginia State Parks, with roughly 1 million visitors annually. Located in Virginia Beach, the park serves as a respite for locals and as a popular vacation destination for visitors from across the mid-Atlantic and beyond.
Supporting the recreational needs of so many requires public input. As such, attendees will have the opportunity to give feedback during a portion of the meeting. DCR will also accept written feedback through May 8, 2021.
Written comments may be emailed to bill.conkle@dcr.virginia.gov; faxed to 804-371-7899; or mailed to Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Attn: Bill Conkle, 600 E. Main St., 24th Floor, Richmond, Virginia 23219.
A master plan guides development for each Virginia State Park. To learn more about state park master plans, visit https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/recreational-planning/masterplans.

You're right Butters. Many people are Profiting from the Rape of the Bay including politicians and officials. Meanwhile Omega is…
CBF has to keep the movement going. They don't care about science unless it serves their narrative.. Which isn't unusual…
Happened again! The hiring of someone that has little if not zero experience of life on the Shore. I'm sure…
Embezzlement? Extortion? Money laundering? Etc, etc, etc. The entire town council and police department should be fired and disbanded.
