Cobia anglers appear to be the winners as they continue to report good success in and around Cape Charles and the CBBT. Adam and Spencer Travis report great Cobia action, but also Spadefish just outside of Cape Charles. Spadefish are still found hanging around the 4th island, with some reaching up to around 6-pounds.
Reports around Virginia Beach note a general slowing, with some Spanish Mackerel from Dam Neck north. The great catches of Spanish mackerel over the last few weeks, continues to slow down on the VB oceanfront. Flounder fishing has also shown some signs of slowing up around the wrecks and at the CBBT. In the blue water, some reports of bigeye tuna catches are showing up, with billfish action continuing to stay marginally active. In the bay, reports of spot are beginning to surface, so we may be seeing a little more of that action in the next few weeks.
Dr. Julie Ball reports that Sheepshead are still hitting using fiddlers, crabs, and clams; she notes that Trigger fish action is still a go, with some big triggers hanging on the CBBT and inshore structures, with reports of one fish pushing to over 5-pounds caught this week.
