The Eastern Shore Health District has announced a special seasonal flu vaccination clinic will be offered for those without insurance coverage.
A drive-thru clinic will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 9 a.m. until noon at Eastern Shore Community College. This free seasonal flu clinic is being held for those who do not have insurance or who have insurance that will not cover the flu vaccine. The number of flu shots available under this free program is limited and available for those 18 years and older only; therefore, flu shots will be given on a first come, first served basis. The clinic at the Eastern Shore Community College (ESCC) is a drive-thru clinic. Cars will enter from the Parkway entrance near the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce building and be directed to the rear entrance of ESCC. You will not have to exit your vehicle to receive the flu shot. All persons attending this drive-thru clinic are asked to wear short sleeves. If the weather is cold, please wear short sleeves under your coat and remove your coat before approaching the vaccination station.
People at increased risk for illness from seasonal influenza and who should receive seasonal flu vaccine this year include:
• All people 6 months of age and older
• People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
• People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including:
o Healthcare personnel
o Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu
o Close contacts of children less than 6 months of age (these children are too young to be vaccinated)
