New, higher rates are coming to commuters of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on January 1, 2019 .
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel District has announced a new Peak Season rate, which is defined as Friday thru Sunday between the dates of May 15 and September. Those rates will be 18.00 for passenger cars, light trucks , SUVs, and Vans under 15 passengers. The return trip within 24 hours will be $2.00.
As before, all discounts will require an Easy Pass.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel District will host two public information sessions to make presentations on the toll increase and an overview on the new tunnel project.
Meetings will be held on:
- Monday, November 19 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., The Lake Wright, 1421 Premium Outlets Blvd., Norfolk, VA.
- Tuesday, November 20 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Northampton High School Gymnasium, 16041 Courthouse Road, Eastville, VA

Which locals? On the North side or the South side of the CBBT?
Obviously on ESVA side. Considering ESVA is so isolated and residents cross often to see their doctors and to shop for basic needs (and even to futher their education) and because ESVA is host to two of the poorest counties in the state, a price break would be a very reasonable and generous consideration for the residents.

Keeping The Eastern Shore of Va poor has been profitable for the upper crust. They have kept their property taxes at a minimum and enjoyed being big fish in a very small pond.
