Grocery Shopping with Diabetes

August 26, 2018 by Wayne Creed Leave a Comment

Classes offered at local grocery stores

Onancock, VA –  For someone who has diabetes or a diabetic family member, grocery shopping presents unique challenges and can be confusing.  Riverside Shore Home Health has teamed up with the Shore’s Food Lion stores to present in-store Diabetic Grocery Shopping seminars.  The interactive seminar is for anyone interested in learning more about healthy eating and shopping for those with diabetes.

Attendees will walk the grocery store aisles with Riverside’s Beverly Norris, RN who is a Certified Diabetic Educator and Certified Health Coach.  Norris will share tips on portion control; what to look for in each area of the store; how to decode a food label; and how carbohydrates, sodium, fats, proteins, and whole grains affect glucose levels.

The seminars will be offered on Tuesday, September 11, at 10am at the Food Lion in Cape Charles and at 12:30 pm at the Food Lion in Onley.   Class size is limited.  To make a reservation, call 757-302-2128, or emailmelissa.glennon@rivhs.com.
