CAPE CHARLES, VA — After 14 years of welcoming guests and creating lasting memories, Jim Holloway has announced plans to sell the beloved Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles, a historic bed and breakfast that has become a cornerstone of the community’s hospitality scene.

Holloway, who transformed the property into a thriving B&B in 2011, says the decision comes as part of a lifestyle change rather than a departure from the area.

“We have loved every step of transforming the Bay Haven Inn,” Holloway said. “So many people came as guests and left as friends — 35 of them even became our neighbors. Now it’s time for some downsizing and maybe sleeping in on a Sunday or two.”

The iconic 1906 three-story home, which has earned recognition as Best of Coastal Virginia, sits in the heart of Cape Charles — a town HGTV named among the Top 40 Most Charming Small Towns in America. The property features a grand kitchen with cathedral ceilings and high-end appliances, along with a sweeping southern wraparound porch surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens.

Located just blocks from the Chesapeake Bay and adjacent to the community park that hosts regular concerts and events, the property offers what Holloway describes as the quintessential Cape Charles experience, including stunning sunsets and the town’s signature “cart life” vibe.

The Bay Haven Inn will continue operating as usual until a sale is finalized, ensuring continuity for guests who have booked stays. The property is being offered as either a turnkey bed and breakfast operation or as a family home with investment potential.

Holloway plans to remain in the Cape Charles area, just outside of town.
