Many of us are old enough to remember when a teen got shot 3 times in School Park (Central Park) and then staggered into a resident’s home. The Mirror was reminded of this by a friend while discussing the car chase events of this week.
A teenager, whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons, was playing basketball at the Old School. Witnesses report that a car drove up and gunfire erupted. The teenager was struck by bullets three times in lower body and abdomen. The teen then made his way across the park and into the first open door he could find. The resident sat the boy down and called 911.
First responders arrived swiftly and provided crucial medical attention at the scene before transporting the victim to the emergency room in Nassawaddox.
The Cape Charles Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. The shooter was eventually identified–it turned out to be an up-the-road, down-the-road beef.
While details are fuzzy (this happened in the 2005-06 timeframe. Someone with a better memory can pinpoint this), the one thing I remember was the calm, muted response. We kind of just made cocktails like we always did.
It was a different town, a different time.
If I recall he ran up the alley between Monroe and Madison Ave?
Editor’s note: Yes, I think so. He ended up in a house on Monroe.
I remember Morris Mason….

Believe it or not, the shooter did his time, was released, works very hard now and has 2 children. Unfortunately the victim in this case continued down the same path he was on and has done nothing productive with his life. He still lives the “street life.”
Editor’s Note: Yes, great commnet.
