  1. Wayne you fail to discuss the one factor that is driving all the increased energy consumption regardless of it’s source and that is population growth.

Note: Very good point, and I agree. That would topic probably deserves treatment of its own. Thanks.

  2. A huge component in the energy puzzle that is often overlooked is efficiency. The efficiency market can create growth while cutting demand at the same time. Do you power a clothes dryer or electric baseboards with solar panels, when a string or south facing widows and insulation would suffice? This same principle can be applied at the macro level as well. For decades the Rocky Mountain Institute has been advising businesses and governments toward a sustainable energy future and is a great resource for investigating this issue.

  3. No small irony, the origins of Cape Charles, dating back to the days of railroading when massive quantities of freight were transported far more economically than can ever be realized over the road. From the shores of Cape Charles to look south to the CBBT and see a microcosm of what was once and what eventually will be, when sea levels innundate, in part to the teamsters greed and America’s love of the automobile, in forsaking the railroad, having brought us to these fair shores, so long ago.
