  1. I work at Cape Charles K-Coast and this made me tear up. Spencer is an amazing boss and guy to be around. Thank you!

  2. Met Mark last week formally, very nice guy! The shop is indeed nicely done and a great addition to Cape Charles. Welcome aboard K-Coast!

  3. There is no surf on the Chesapeake bay…

Note: True, except in a hurricane or some conditions set by a Noreaster. I have surfed the Bay…normal conditions, only 45 to VB, by boat to the islands, or just an hour or so to Assateague…CC is not a bad location for a shop like this. Chill, Bro.

    1. Surf shops were there is no surf sell gear to people who want to appear to be a surfer. Much like modern Harley riders with ‘new’ gear to make them look like a real Harley rider. They buy leather, patches and stickers for their helmets…trying desperately to play the part. Take Lands End…they sell nautical inspired clothes for people who dont spent time around the water. Their clothes would not stand up to the seaside. You have folks that come home from work and put on ‘work out’ clothes to ride a bike or go for a walk. Silly people.

The Sheep have been programmed well.

  4. I first saw this activity while I was stationed in south jersey when I was 17, but I have seen this activity in MD, DE, NC, SC, GA, and TX. The activity is wanna-be surfers floating on surfboards in water as slick as glass waiting for waves that will never come. I remember asking a BM3 in Jersey just what in the hell are they waiting for. He claimed they can’t help it.

    1. Surf ave, Beach Haven Crest.
      Bergen ave, Harvey Cedars.
Stuart, we have swell in NJ. Maybe not Ca or Hi sized, but we surf.

      1. I surfed Great Egg inlet for 3 years in a 44′ MLB. Ran seach patterns until we were put in crew fatigue, offshore at night, in a winter snow storm. I have not forgotten Jersey.

  5. I visited K-Coast recently. It’s a wonderful store with an excellent selection of clothing, footwear, jewelry, and a wide array of other items. Spencer is a the perfect choice for manager and will no doubt make it a success with his winning personality and knowledge of surfing and Cape Charles. What a fantastic addition to the town!

  6. Can’t wait to visit the next time I am home! I have no doubt that Spencer will make that store a success! Best of luck K-Coast!!

  7. Bought a 10’2″ Dewey Weber board at Western Auto on Virginia Beach back in 1966, $225°°. “Surfed” Va. Beach, Nags Head NC, Daytona Fl, Oceanside Ca, Baha Mexico, China Beach, Danang RVN and Bondi Beach Australia. Waves were groovy some places and a bummer in others on random days. I am was not an expert and probably not nearly as good as I thought I was, but Dang, I do miss those days. Every one. I was right pleased to walk into a Surf shop in Cape Charles last week.
    To Hell with naysayers…

  8. By the way, I suggest that Ms. @%*@^!* could benefit from a nice large warm glass of Prunejuice.
    Relax
