Cotter Smasal’s campaign for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District named a top-tier prospect in the key battleground district
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — The DCCC announced Missy Cotter Smasal has been added to its highly competitive Red to Blue program for the 2024 cycle. Candidates are added to the Red to Blue program after hitting significant benchmarks related to overall campaign infrastructure, fundraising, and on the ground engagement. This selection marks their candidacy as key to the path to Democratic majority.
Candidate for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District Missy Cotter Smasal is challenging vulnerable Republican freshman incumbent Jen Kiggans who now has a devastating record of voting against the veterans, servicemembers, and Coastal Virginia families she was elected to represent. Jen Kiggans has embraced the far-right chaos dominating her caucus, making this Biden district one of the most competitive races in the country.
“Missy Cotter Smasal has the experience, background, and momentum to take on Jen Kiggans and give Coastal Virginians the advocate in Congress that they deserve. Kiggans repeatedly voted to cut resources for veterans and is actively working to restrict abortion access across the Commonwealth. Voters want sensible leadership that will work for them, not a representative beholden to an extreme MAGA agenda. That’s why Missy will flip this district and deliver results for Coastal Virginians,” said DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene.
“Coastal Virginians are energized and excited about my campaign to be the results-driven and sensible advocate they deserve in Congress – and I’m glad the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has taken notice,” said Missy Cotter Smasal, Democratic Candidate for Virginia’s Second Congressional District. “Our Red to Blue selection is a reflection of the strong, people-powered campaign we’ve built with the resources, support, and enthusiasm to take on Jen Kiggans. Coastal Virginians are fed up with her failed leadership in Congress. With today’s Red to Blue news, we are well on our way to winning this race and building towards a Democratic House majority that will fight for veterans, fund the government, and protect abortion rights.”

WHAT !!
Kiggans record is fine
Your trying to smear it is BS
Typical political garbage.
You’re not going to win .
Thank you. Jen Kiggans has done a tremendous job in light of circumstances beyond her control, for the good of her district.
