Public works infrastructure, facilities and services are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life and well-being of the citizens of Cape Charles. The facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of the Public Works crew.
National Public Works Week is observed each year during the third full week of May.
Through National Public Works Week and other efforts, the American Public Works Association seeks to raise the public’s awareness of public works issues and to increase confidence in public works employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for present and future generations.
This year’s theme is “Connecting the World Through Public Works” to illustrate how public works connects us all through infrastructure and service, enhancing the quality of life for the communities these professionals serve.
The Cape Charles Town Council will be adopting a proclamation at their May 18, 2023 Regular Meeting proclaiming the week of May 21-27, 2023 as National Public Works Week and urges all citizens to join with the representatives of the American Public Works Association and government agencies to pay tribute to our public works professionals and to recognize the substantial contributions they make to protecting our national health, safety and quality of life.
Please join us in celebrating the week of May 21-27, 2023 as National Public Works Week and in thanking our Public Works staff –Manager John Lockwood, Ralph Bowen, Rick Finley, Joe Gittinger, James Jones, and Harper Matthews!
