King’s Creek residents Richard and Polly Ward are planning to bring an antique shop to Cape Charles. The property is located on 62 Stone Road, just west of the entrance to King’s Creek Landing. The property is zoned agriculture/rural business and contains approximately three acres of land.
The Northampton County Planning Commission approved the site plan and recommended approval to the Board of Supervisors.
At the November Board of Supervisors Regular meeting, the applicant appeared to discuss and request the removal of certain setbacks and buffers proposed by the staff.
During discussion, it was noted that the adjacent neighbors were not opposed to the project as it has been thus far being presented to the Planning Commission. Staff has found that it is consistent with the 2009 Comp Plan, which encourages small business development.
After more discussion, the board agreed to remove 2 out of the 3 additional setback conditions recommended by staff. A 24-month deadline to begin construction is required.
The Special Use Permit was approved 4-1.
