Lee Toliver of the Virginia Pilot reported that a West Virginia angler, Alex Foster now has a pending International Game Fish Association world record for a striped bass he caught and released off Cape Charles while fishing with Sho-Nuf Sportfishing captain Clinton Lessard.

The fish measured 122 centimeters (48.03 inches) long — five centimeters longer than the current record — and good enough to earn him a release award from the state-sponsored Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament.
