President Biden announced Thursday that all employers with more than 100 workers will be forced to require coronavirus vaccinations (that so far have not been effective) or test employees weekly. Wut??
The mandate is expected to affect as many as 100 million Americans.

The expansive rules mandate that all employers with more than 100 workers require them to be vaccinated or test for the virus weekly, affecting about 80 million Americans. And the roughly 17 million workers at health facilities that receive federal Medicare or Medicaid also will have to be fully vaccinated.
To clarify, this writer is not anti-vax at all (I have so many vaccines in my body, I can’t even remember which ones, from polio to anthrax. I really don’t care), but if it’s between powerful institutions demanding arbitrary powers to force regular people to do something they’re uncomfortable with, I’m standing with the regular people.
Hot Take: This mandate will probably be knocked down but the message has been communicated loud and clear to large corporations which will implement the policy anyway. This is the shape of things to come. Here’s the rub: The Government is taking No Real Action so there is No Constitutional violation. Basically, Government implores Corporations to use leverage (keep your job) to do what it can’t. Censorship. Illegal search and seizure. HIPAA violations. Freedom of speech. Discrimination. This is certainly a dark place.
Biden will have OSHA make a rule requiring employees of companies to be tested. Companies will have to pay for the testing, but they can pass the cost on to employees.
Biden is also signing an executive order to require vaccination for employees of the executive branch and contractors who do business with the federal government — with no option to test instead. That covers several million more workers.
This whole thing seems a lot like sending Barney Fife to put down a riot. We have created a society of fear for a virus that if you are under 70 years old you have an over 98% chance of surviving. Data now show increasing the pace of currently available vaccinations will not stop the spread of Covid, as Israel — where at least 78 percent of those eligible are vaccinated — has demonstrated. Anyone who thought “oh if I get the vaccine this will end” you were wrong. To people who still think despite all the evidence to the contrary that this is a virus that requires serious measures to combat you are hopeless. A vaccine was never necessary to fight covid, it doesn’t prevent the spread, and we have no idea what the long-term effects are, and if it is causing the virus to spread even harder and faster. Yet here we are with the Federal government attempting to mandate it. It’s becoming obvious the only people Democrats want to restrict are hardworking, law-abiding Americans. Illegals, thugs, and freeloaders all get a pass. Corporate media have found no story angles that call into question Biden’s leadership because, well, it’s Trump’s fault, right? After we move past Covid (football stadiums are packed with those who are not afraid and could care less), the next tyrannical, liberty-destroying, and equity-affirming push—which will clearly be Climate Change—is going to be met with unprecedented skepticism and opposition from ordinary people. This is very good. The Harvard managerial class has no idea how much social and cultural capital they burned through over the past few months. Hospitals and beds are not overflowing. The only thing that is at or near capacity is the American people’s tolerance for a monetized political narrative that means to divide us against one another so power can be consolidated away from We The People.
In addition to the vaccination requirements, Biden is moving to double federal fines for airline passengers who refuse to wear masks on flights or to maintain face-covering requirements on federal property in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
The rule would also require that large companies provide paid time off for vaccination.
According to Forbes, Businesses that refuse to comply with the mandate will open themselves up to hefty fines up to nearly $14,000 per violation.

UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — A federal judge temporarily blocked the state of New York on Tuesday from forcing medical workers to be vaccinated after a group of health care workers sued, saying their Constitutional rights were violated because the state’s mandate disallowed religious exemptions.
Judge David Hurd in Utica issued the order after 17 health professionals, including doctors and nurses, claimed in a lawsuit Monday that their rights were violated with a vaccine mandate that disallowed the exemptions.
The judge gave New York state until Sept. 22 to respond to the lawsuit in federal court in Utica.
If the state opposes the plaintiffs’ request for a preliminary court order blocking the vaccine mandate, a Sept. 28 oral hearing will occur.
The state issued the order Aug. 28, requiring at least a first shot for health care workers at hospitals and nursing homes by Sept. 27.
Hazel Crampton-Hays, press secretary to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, said in a statement that the state was considering all of its legal options.
“Governor Hochul is doing everything in her power to protect New Yorkers and combat the Delta variant by increasing vaccine rates across the State.”
“Requiring vaccination of health care workers is critical to this battle,” Crampton-Hays said.
In their lawsuit, health care professionals disguised their identities with pseudonyms such as “Dr. A.,” “Nurse A.,” and “Physician Liaison X.”
They cited violations of the U.S. Constitution, along with the New York State Human Rights Law and New York City Human Rights Law, because the state Department of Health regulation requiring workers to get the vaccine provided no exemption for “sincere religious beliefs that compel the refusal of such vaccination.”
The court papers said all of the available vaccines employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development or production.
The lawsuit said the plaintiffs wanted to proceed anonymously because they “run the risk of ostracization, threats of harm, immediate firing and other retaliatory consequences if their names become known.”
The plaintiffs, all Christians, included practicing doctors, nurses, a nuclear medicine technologist, a cognitive rehabilitation therapist and a physician’s liaison who all oppose as a matter of religious conviction any medical cooperation in abortion, the lawsuit said.
It added that they are not “anti-vaxxers” who oppose all vaccines.
