  1. I’m speechless. Why doesn’t the Wetlands Board have the authority to require the property owner who violated the statute to pay 100% of the restoration effort?
And what about the equipment operators who should have known that this work was in areas that require permits? Don’t they have an ethical responsibility to challenge their customer and – dare I say it – act in a responsible way and refuse the work and notify the regulatory authorities?
Does the county have to create yet another regulation extending liability for fines to the equipment operators to force people to act in an ethical manner?

    1. ‘fines to the equipment operators to force people to act in an ethical manner?’ They can not get the immigrants to assimilate properly much less ‘red-neck’ heavy equipment operators…

The obsession of living in a house that faces water is the real problem. Take a look at what that has done to your environment/wetlands from Maine to Florida.

  2. I am totally shocked !
This happened just around the corner from my house and I am know just finding out about it !
What happened to the news media from September 2016 until now?
The Federal and State government should now get involved and criminal and civil charges should be filed.
Don’t wait for Bruce Jones to act or even respond! I can’t believe that Jack Wescott tried to get the penalty reduced ,maybe we need to take a look at what’s going on at his waterfront just a short distance from this outrageous violation!
Thank you to The Cape Charles Mirror and to all who shared this post.

  3. Cui bono ? Why was this environmental terrorism conducted ? What was to be gained by the criminal ?
