Building Inspector
The county is accepting applications for a Building Inspector, a role centered on performing building inspections and reviewing construction plans. The position also requires frequent public interaction, including assisting residents with questions related to building permits. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, with prior work as a building inspector preferred. A valid Virginia driver’s license and strong communication skills are essential. The salary range is $48,261 to $73,644.
Code Compliance Inspector
A second opening is available for a Code Compliance Inspector. This position focuses on enforcing several sections of the county code, including regulations regarding abandoned or inoperable vehicles, nuisance violations, and zoning requirements. Duties include conducting inspections and working directly with the public on code-related concerns. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, one year of related experience, and excellent communication skills. The salary range is $42,665 to $65,073.
Planner/Community Redevelopment Specialist
The county is also seeking a Planner/Community Redevelopment Specialist to provide planning and technical support to the department, as well as to various boards and committees. Responsibilities include policy analysis, regulatory enforcement support, research, customer service, and review of site and development plans. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in planning or a closely related field, or at least three years of relevant experience, along with strong public speaking and project management skills. The salary range is $62,877 to $96,192.
