According to a letter from Superintendent Eddie Lawrence, Northampton County Schools will be postponing in-person learning until January 25, 2021. Information about instructional materials and delivery will be communicated by your child’s school.
The decision is due to the entire Eastern Region of the state is still being at the highest case rate level, the positivity rate is 14% per 100,000, and
the positivity rate is above 19 percent in Northampton County.
As a result, it has been determined to postpone the plan for return to in-person instruction and continue with all students remaining under 100% virtual and long-distance instruction.
NOTE: Meal distribution will continue to be provided for families during this extended virtual schedule.
School meals will be distributed on Tuesday’s and Thursdays at the following times/locations: 10:00-11:00: Bayview Apts., William Hughes Apts., Cheriton Fire Dept., Family Dollar, Trehernville Church, Jamesville Post Office. 11:15-12:15: Seabreeze Apts., Cobbs Station Trailer Park, Food Lion (Cape Charles), Food Lion (Exmore), Little Italy parking lot, Hare Valley School. 10:00-11:30: School Board Office, Machipongo.
Meals will be disbursed at each school from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
One Tab devices are still available for pick up for ALL Virtual and Hybrid, K-2 students at the Central Office in Machipongo.
Chromebooks are still available for pick up for all 3rd-6th Grade Students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30-3:30 at the Central Office in Machipongo.
