The Northampton Yellow Jackets started the week off Tuesday night in Eastville with a 5-0 thrashing of Middlesex. Jesus Moldonaldo Lopez had 2 goals for the Jackets. Northampton then moved on to the conference semifinal vs the Rappahannock Raiders, Thursday night in Eastville. The score (2-1) indicated a close game, but play was mostly in Rappahannock’s end. JR Gildo had a goal and Brian Terron buried a penalty shot in the lower corner. Next for the Jackets was a date with the top seed Riverheads Gladiators in Staunton Virginia for the conference championship. Northampton battled hard but lost a close 5-2 battle. The score did not properly depict the game as Riverheads scored on a PK and a own goal off a ricochet. The yellow jackets can meet Riverheads again in the state finals. First the boys will have to Play and beat top seed Galax High school on Friday in the state semifinals at Radford.
