ONANCOCK, Va. – A proposal to extend Onancock’s town limits has been put on hold after both the Accomack County Board of Supervisors and the Onancock Town Council delayed action on the measure.
The plan, which would add more than 84 acres of mostly undeveloped land along Liberty and Hill Streets to the town, was first discussed by the Board of Supervisors on August 20, when members agreed to send the boundary line adjustment to public hearing.
Following a September 17 public hearing, the Board opted to continue discussions at its October meeting but ultimately chose to table the issue. The Onancock Town Council held its own hearing on September 22 and likewise took no action, deciding to revisit the matter at a later date.
