Opinion to the Mirror by Andy Zahn.
Brenden Byrne passed away on Thursday. He was a 2-term Governor of New Jersey. He gave the state a sales tax and possibly an income tax. As I recall the state budget was $750 million prior to the new found money. Along came the lottery and the casinos. The LIE was that all these great brainstorms would reduce property taxes–they are now the highest in the nation.
Next great idea was to use fuel taxes to subsidize rail and bus transportation. Shortly, the state took ownership of rail and bus lines and named it New Jersey Transit (NJT).
I was against all of the above and spoke out. It was and is all income redistribution. 50 years ago I wrote in the press “If NJ keeps it up, soon all that will remain will be welfare clients; all the tax payers will leave”.
And so it came to pass that more than a million have voted with our feet. My wife and I sold our home in Bayville and moved to Melfa 40 years ago as did our youngest son. As it turns out one son and several grandchildren work for NJT but it is no matter; it is a boon-doggle with money squandered on works of art, etc. while rolling stock needs repair and replacement.
I watch the NYC news on WNBC and public housing is a main expense. If you can’t earn enough to live in NY or these other blue states, you should live elsewhere where you can earn a living. It’s all income redistribution with food, health care…free everything.
In 1958 we, moved from Ft Lewis to Manahawkin after I found a job there. Makes no sense to move anywhere until you nail down the how.
If President Trump is wacky, we should all be so bad off. Looking at it, it is the “they” that have it backwards.
Trump is a genius and his critics are idiots. In his personal life he made billions. He can handle many events at one time and he is, step by step, making America Great Again; unravelling one boo-boo after another that Obama and all since Reagan have left.
North Korea is what he must deal with and as a follower of General Patton his tactic is what Kim needs–let’s hope it works because being nice and inviting Kim to milk and cookies and sweet talking did not work.
The left finds fault with everything and, well, put me down as wacky also because I find no fault in his thinking and planning and like Patton his words are rough but not a boring Obama classroom lecture.
Clear everyday language we understand, not Haaarvaaard jibberish.
That said, I am proud to be a deplorable.
