NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) — Nags Head firefighters conducted a controlled burn of the old Pamlico Jacks restaurant that the Dare County Tourism Board hopes to make part of a new soundside events center. For those of us who have been surfing the Outer Banks, we have fond memories of the place. The restaurant stood on the site for more than three decades; first, as Penguin Isle, then as Pamlico Jack’s. Great food, and some of the best sunsets at OBX.

Fire crews from Nags Head and around the Outer Banks participated in a training exercise Thursday that involved the controlled burn of the building at 6708 South Croatan Highway.
In 2019, Jacks was sold to the Dare County Tourism Board for more than $3 million.
