Hi, I’m Luna! I’m a sweet, gentle girl, about 2 years old, and I’m still waiting for the family that’s meant to be mine.
My story hasn’t been easy. I was adopted once before, from a shelter in Washington DC, and I really did try. I even got along beautifully with the chickens at my old home! But things didn’t work out with the other dog in the house, and through no fault of my own, I ended up back at a shelter — this time, here on the Eastern Shore, starting over again.
That was over 6 months ago. I know my previous adoption history stacks the odds against me, but that’s been over 6 months of waiting patiently for someone to look past it and realize what a great addition I’d make to their family. Yes, I do best as the only dog in my home, but I promise I’m not asking for much else. And in return, I’ll give everything I have: gentle affection, quiet companionship, and a whole lot of loyalty. I’d be wonderful with kids.
I haven’t let the long wait for a second chance break my spirit. I’m still that same laid-back, affectionate girl with the soft eyes and the goofy grin. I still lean into every hand that reaches out to scratch my ears. I still wag my tail like today might be the day. I’m spayed, up to date on all my shots, and I’m young enough to learn all the things a good dog should know. I’m already house trained, and I know how to sit for a treat. I’m a good student; I just need someone patient enough to teach me.
I’ve watched a lot of other dogs get picked before me. I try not to let that get to me, but I still hope, every single day, that someone will look past my history and see me — Luna, a sweet girl who just wants a home to call her own, for good this time.
