  1. I’m still confused. What is the reason that Supervisor Hogg wants to prevent corporations or partnerships from qualifying to bid on or be awarded contracts from the county when any shareholders or officers owe taxes on personal property to the county? Is this some issue of judgement on character?
And why did Supervisors Hogg and Duer vote against a public hearing? Where is the transparency of government?
The county has recourse for delinquent property taxes – even though it’s not fast and not simple. And to infer that a qualified business who submits a low bid and successfully completes the work should be disqualified if even one of the shareholders owes taxes on their personal property does not reduce risk or serve the taxpayers of Northampton County.
Please explain Mr. Hogg and Mr. Duer why this issue should be decided behind closed doors and how this requirement will serve the taxpayers of Northampton County.
