WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA), voted to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level.
The MORE Act is a comprehensive, bipartisan marijuana reform package to decriminalize marijuana on the federal level and permit states to regulate marijuana more effectively. The legislation removes marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act and applies this retroactively to prior and pending convictions. It does not undermine the ability of states to apply their criminal laws to marijuana or to legalize and regulate marijuana.
“I am also pleased to join colleagues from both sides of the aisle in supporting and voting for the MORE Act to change our outdated marijuana laws and regulations. This historic reform package repairs the disproportionate harm that these archaic laws have caused on communities of color and allows states to regulate marijuana in a responsible and safe manner,” Rep. Luria said.
The MORE Act also allows the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to recommend
medical marijuana to veterans living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other qualifying conditions.
Rep. Luria is a strong advocate of sensible and compassionate marijuana policies. In 2019, she testified before the House Judiciary Committee on behalf of a young girl in Hampton who relies on medical marijuana to provide compassionate pain relief due to her rare form of brain cancer. Congresswoman Luria is also a member of the House’s bipartisan Cannabis Caucus.

And talk about politicizing the office of attorney general by these out-of-control Democrats, there we have a blatant example of it right there.
