ONLEY, Va. – Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital (RSMH) announced changes in the local leadership of its Board of Directors. Incoming Board Chairman Peter Lalor and Vice Chairman Robert Crockett have assumed the leadership of the local hospital from Immediate Past Chairman C. Lee Davis. Both Lalor and Crockett have long been dynamic Board members who, with Davis, helped lead the organization through its transition to the new campus in Onley.
“Our Board of Directors plays a key role maintaining open lines of communication with the community and guiding the future direction of health care in our region,” said John Peterman, Administrator and Vice President at Riverside Shore Memorial. “C. Lee’s leadership during the construction of our new campus was instrumental to our success, and we are now looking forward to the expertise and insight that Pete and Robert bring to the table.”
In addition, Ann Beamer Williams and John “Scott” Webb were appointed to the hospital’s Board of Directors. With strong local roots and a heart-felt commitment to the community, Williams and Webb will look to help the award-winning rural hospital deliver on its mission of providing high-quality health care locally.
“Ann and Scott are experienced local leaders with strong family values, and they are tremendous additions to the board – good people who understand what the Riverside Care Difference is all about,” said Peterman.
Williams is closely connected to RSMH, working with the hospital’s marketing team and serving as President of the RSMH Auxiliary – an organization that has been providing fundraising assistance since 1920. The Northern Virginia native with a master’s degree in education has lived for nearly two decades on the Eastern Shore, raising three daughters and enjoying life away from the big-city hustle and bustle.
In addition to her RSMH affiliations and selling real estate part time, Williams also serves on the board of the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Among other duties in her new role, she looks forward to keeping the RSMH board apprised of Auxiliary activities, implementing recruitment efforts to attract new doctors and specialists to the area, and building an even tighter bond with the community.
“The sense of community, family and accountability here at RSMH is truly exceptional,” said Williams. “I enjoy working with our local residents, helping them learn about and leverage the scope of the world-class care that Riverside has invested in right here on the Eastern Shore.”
Webb’s Eastern Shore roots are deep. The lifelong Northampton County resident and father of two sons also sits on the board of Franktown United Methodist Church and is President of the Randy Custis Memorial Fund, a non-profit that runs a 31-acre park hosting youth sports and community activities.
Webb serves as co-head of NASA’s Information Technology and Communications Division remote facility at Wallops Island, and on the weekends he also operates an aquafarming family seafood business with his brother and father. He looks forward to applying community-minded leadership skills and a common-sense approach to his duties on the RSMH board.
“The facilities Riverside has built here on the Eastern Shore are truly first class, rivaling those in the largest metropolitan areas,” said Webb. “I’m eager to get to work with my fellow board members to further strengthen the partnership between RSMH and the community, driving successful outcomes for both parties.”
Williams and Webb will step into the vacancies left by outgoing board members Jane Bulette and Caramine Kellam.
“Riverside sincerely thanks Jane and Caramine for their years of service, especially during a period of growth, expansion and recognition. They both stepped up to make smart, and sometimes hard, decisions and never lost sight of doing what was best for the entire Shore community,” said Peterman. “Jane extended her presidency of the Auxiliary so that the group would have continuity of leadership during the transition from Nassawadox to Onley. She led the Auxiliary while they raised a significant donation for the Kellam Heart Center. Caramine served twice as chairman of the Board of Directors. Her leadership was instrumental in our affiliation with Riverside, and she has represented the Shore on the Riverside Health System Board as well as the Riverside Foundation Board. Jane’s and Caramine’s many contributions have served the community well, and we wish them the very best.”

My wish is that all the Directors would get kicked out of office for the decision to allow Riverside to dismantle the Nassawadox complex and replace it with nothing. My further wish is that either a private or public bus system will be provided to channel all mid to lower Northampton health care seekers to the superior systems operated in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Riverside abandoned that element of the ESVA population; it is owed no loyalty.
Northampton Accomack Memorial Hospital’s goal was to provide health care and services to the people of Northampton and Accomack counties.
Riverside’s goal is to make profit….period. Their patients are their customers.
Damn shame.
Many of those Hospital Board members have a lot to answer for to the people of Northampton County. Especially the ones who believed that the Riverside Corporation would let them make some decisions.
Shame on them for not cutting a better deal for the WHOLE community. Now that Board is nothing but a sham.
3000 or more campers in the lower county during the summer, and NO emergency room nearby. And that token Board can’t do a thing about it.
People in northampton. County don’t think twice to drive to Wal-Mart to shop,,go to salisbury or va beach for dinner or shopping,movie…why is your heath care not as important!

Driving to Wal-Mart to shop is not analogous to the need for emergency health care which is out of reach in a reasonable time. Health care is probably more important than a casual jaunt to W-Mart, the latter can be planned!
re the nw hospital board..where are the women…Think that the auxilary always has one rep from northampton and one from accomack? maybe bulette and kellam are those, but i doubt it..? thanks..
Also would you please find out what patients get some of the ONE MILLION DOLLARS A MONTH that the hospital says it gives in charity? How does that work..?

Don’t forget that it was the policies of Spencer Murray and Oliver Bennett that made it economically impractical for Riverside to build it’s new facility in Northampton County Virginia.
These people have hidden agendas and they need to be investigated — This goes for the rest of the elected officials of Northampton county.
There is an upcoming election this November for at least 3 seats on the Northampton County Board of Supervisors.
Please remember that Murray & Bennett are responsible for destroying the economy of Northampton County this fall.
Vote for the people that the current Board of Supervisors members ARE NOT SUPPORTING to enable sensible local government to prevail in Northampton County Virginia!!!
A regime change is in order to counteract the actions of these terrible men.
