  1. I don’t see what the hell they need a permit for. I believe they’ve got some kind of get rich quick scheme going on or maybe looking to scam someone. I SAY TURN THE PERMIT DOWN!

  2. Sounds like an AirBnB, without the AirBnB….
Does Cape Charles require a business license for irregular rental of accommodations through internet portals like AirBnB similar to the license for short term (less than 6 months) leasing, hotels and Bed & Breakfast locations (with or without breakfast)?

  3. “Get rich quick” scheme? Seriously? For a one bed cottage? Well sure, if they can find a moron willing to pay a million bucks a night, but it’s more like $100 to a $125 per night, may get 25 nights a season.

Cheebus, y’all really hate anyone who may try to get ahead, doncha?

      1. Permit fees.
        Inspection fees.
        Property taxes.
        Sales taxes.
        Occupancy taxes.
What more do you want them to pay?

As per the “411”, it is a legal, permitted use. It will be taxed as that use, as would any other similar structure in CC.

Seriously, what is it about the liberal denizens of ESVA that they insist on punishing effort and opportunity?

  4. Not sure how this qualifies for anything but being taxed as a vacation rental. Free standing; check. Rents; check. No breakfast and not w/in the house itself; check. Sounds like a detached free standing vacation rental to me.
