Wachapreague, VA — Bird enthusiasts and nature lovers are in for a treat this September with the Seaside Birdwatching Boat Tour led by Captain Meriwether Payne. The tour, which promises an extraordinary opportunity to observe the diverse birdlife of Virginia’s Barrier Islands, will take place on Wednesday, September 4th, with a rain date scheduled for September 5th.
Participants will embark on a memorable journey through the pristine lagoons and marshes behind the Islands, where they will have the chance to see an array of seabirds and shorebirds in their natural habitat. Highlights include sightings of the striking American oystercatcher, the elegant Whimbrel, various terns and gulls, as well as raptors soaring above.
Tour Times:
- 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Each tour time slot accommodates just 6 participants, ensuring an intimate and personalized experience. Attendees are advised to arrive at the boat ramp at least 10 minutes before departure to ensure a timely start.
