EASTERN SHORE, Va. — Shore Soccer is calling on local sports fans and community members to step up and make a difference in the lives of young athletes. The organization is seeking two volunteer coaches for its 17U boys’ teams this fall.
“These are great kids who love the game,” said league organizer Liz Jones. “We just need the right mentors to help guide them on and off the field.”
Youth sports leagues like Shore Soccer provide far more than athletic opportunities. Coaches play a crucial role in developing teamwork, discipline, and confidence in their players. For many teenagers, the bond with a coach can serve as an important source of encouragement, especially during the critical high school years.
With soccer continuing to grow in popularity across the Shore, having dedicated adult volunteers is essential to keeping programs strong and accessible for all families. “Coaches don’t just teach skills,” Coach Wayne Creed added. “They help shape character, sportsmanship, and a love for the game that lasts a lifetime.”
Community members with soccer experience—or simply a passion for working with youth—are encouraged to volunteer. Training and support are provided, and no one should feel intimidated about stepping into the role.
Anyone interested in coaching should contact Liz Jones at 240-832-8013.
