The firm of Langley and McDonald has submitted a proposal for a change order for small boat improvements at the town harbor.
Plans include a concrete walkway, 8’ wide from the existing pump-out system at the fuel dock to the USCG fence. A new timber walkway will extend from the pump-out system to the car parking area. The new concrete walkway will most likely be poured in place over earth/fill with a utility trench on the landward outside edge. Bollards will be placed to prevent vehicular access.
New pole lighting will be installed around the marina perimeter, and existing power pedestals will be replaced with new pedestals for power and water service.
According to the proposal, minimal grading to drain the lane adjacent to USCG utilizing existing stormwater features will be required.
A new floating dock will be installed adjacent to the existing fixed dock using existing timber piles for anchor piles. This will include T-head, finger piers, ADA compatible gangway, and power pedestals.
Boatlifts will be installed in place of first 10 existing slips of the fixed pier.
Tasks that are not included at this time: a. Topo surveys b. Soil borings c. Stormwater management d. Complete plans/specs for bidding e. Presentations or public meetings.

This is good news for Cape Charles. The condition of the small boat docks is deplorable. More work needs to be done to quiet down the entire harbor. What is the timeframe for each phase? What studies have been done to improve the harbor.
