Stinky Library and Boats on the Street

August 19, 2018 by Wayne Creed 7 Comments

Councilman Chris Bannon is on the warpath. In a fiery speech at Thursday’s town council meeting, Bannon railed against the town for continuing to allow the noxious smell of raw sewage to permeate the Cape Charles Library. “This has been going on for five years!” Bannon said.

The awful smell is something the town has been aware of for some time, but the problems are not just with the library. Kelly’s Pub has had numerous issues with sewage, which, according to Kelly have never been addressed. Next door, Brown Dog Ice Cream has employed plumbing experts Herbert Senn and Ben Franklin to concoct an air handling scenario to try and exorcise the offending olfactory demons.

This may also be the premise that the town will use when it decides to move the library. In a brief to the council, Library Board chair Roger Moyer told the council that the building may not be the best suited for the functions it currently is being asked to fulfill.

Boats on the Street

Bannon later took on boats being parked on the streets. He told the council that they need to get our representatives Senator Lynwood Lewis and Representative Rob Bloxum on board at the state level before they can pen an ordinance to remove all boats from the streets of Cape Charles. The town attempted to do this several years ago, but the effort was defeated. Get ready for round two.

This might be a good issue for some deep dive investigative reporting by the Mirror. Does the Town not know what is causing these oder problems, is it too costly to fix ? What are the issues involved here ? Town’s official position? Any health implications?Check it out, Mirror, let’s hear from you !

It seems to me that Dave Fauber. is the one that needs to be bitched out. I guess Dave Fauber does not go to the library or Kelly’s Pub! This is part of his job and he is probably refusing to do it. If the town is truly planning on moving the library maybe they could put it at the community center. Oh wait they gave the school away so there is no Community Center!

As usual the people running the town have their heads in the poop!

Maybe the wrong people were elected a few years ago. In spite of a chorus of town folks railing against it they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and purchased a money pit. It was a dreadfully neglected building the B of A was trying to unload. They paid a premium $200,000 + for it. The town manager at the time referred to it as ‘The Libary’. That should tell you something.

They can’t fix the sewers because they are too busy spending money on bike trails, signs on the way into own that advertise…….the town that people just turned off of 13 to get to……..way overpriced public bathrooms………giving away schools……..undercharging some for water, overcharging others….all the kinds of stuff that good little Progressives do instead of the BASIC FUNCTIONS OF GOVERNMENT THAT THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DO.

    Progressivism Delenda Est.

WELL WELL !!!HEAR we go again in all my years in corp Management have i ever read so much Crap in comments by readers of THE MIRROR . The Parking of Boats & trailers on the streets of any Town is ludicrous ,Particularly in Cape Charles where we have three very well equipped Marine facilities at each one . Having plenty of storage and Boat slips IF YOU CANT AFFORD STORAGE OR A SLIP YOU CANT AFFORD A BOAT Simple
