The Cape Charles Historic Preservation Plan is the process by which our community develops a vision, goals, and priorities for the preservation of its historic and cultural resources. Cape Charles seeks to achieve its vision through its own actions and through influencing the actions of others. Goals and priorities are based on analyses of resource data and community values. The Historic Preservation Planning Program helps communities of all kinds make sense of the planning process and ensure it is useful and effective.
To that end, the town would like citizens to weigh in on the plan by taking a brief survey.
The survey is being conducted by Christopher Newport University.
For the people who did not attend the March 4 meeting, the survey is asking for opinions on items that are not stated in the survey. For example, Do you have any opinions about the two historical structures that were identified by Town Manager Larry DiRe as being under imminent threat of demolition? Which buildings are those? How might the town act to preserve them, and other buildings that might face this issue in the future? What do you think are the main elements that should be included in the updated historic preservation plan for Cape Charles? Where do we go to find the updated historic preservation plan?
