CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Cape Charles Town Manager Rick Keuroglian received five citizen-submitted concerns this week through the town’s Report-a-Concern system, officials said. Each submission received an immediate response and was forwarded to the appropriate department for review and action based on urgency and priorities.
One complaint involved a food truck on Bay Avenue that was reportedly left unattended with a generator running early in the morning, raising safety concerns and frustration over limited parking spaces. Keuroglian said the information was forwarded to Police Chief Jim Pruitt, who will investigate.
A broken stall latch in the women’s bathroom at Central Park was also reported, resulting in a work order being sent to the Public Works Department. Citizens also noted broader maintenance needs in Central Park, including mulch for the playground, wood rot at the swing set base, replacement of a soccer net and cleanup around swamp willows. Public Works completed some of the tasks by July 22, including replacing the net and reorganizing barricades used for concerts.
Additional concerns included American flags placed around town by state Sen. Bill DeSteph’s office that citizens said needed to be respectfully removed and stored. Public Works was tasked with collecting and saving the flags for future use.
Finally, citizens reported that as many as five streetlights on Washington Avenue were not working. Public Works officials said the outage is part of a larger issue that extends beyond simple bulb replacements and is being addressed.
Town officials encouraged residents to continue using the Report-a-Concern system, which helps departments track and resolve issues throughout the community.
