Steve Galyean, the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s development director, headlines the third annual Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Summit, April 5, 2016, at the Eastern Shore Community College. The free event is from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a box lunch. This annual event is designed to bring regional tourism business community together under one roof, learn from experts, share ideas, find new opportunities to partner with other businesses and align to a regional tourism vision.
In addition to a chance to win some great prizes – the Grand Prize is an ad in Virginia Living magazine – attendees will gain key insights about the future of tourism and leave with tactical ideas for growing their tourism business.
Steve Galyean’s keynote address, “Top-Ten Tourism Trends for 2016 and Beyond,” will identify ten critical pathways that define the future of tourism. “The more we can learn about tourism, as a community, the more deliberate we can be about how this key economic sector moves forward,” said Kerry Allison, executive director, Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Commission. “Steve Galyean, an expert in smart tourism development, will challenge us to look at the way we’re doing business now, and help us think about new directions, strategies and opportunities.”
Also on the agenda is Cary Hahn, who has played a key role building and growing one of Virginia’s most vibrant Artisan Trails, the Oh Shenandoah County Artisan Trail. She will discuss strategies and tactics that have been successful for their trail and which could be implemented for the new Virginia’s Eastern Shore Artisan Trail.
The new Virginia Tourism Corporation development specialist for the coastal Virginia region, Staci Martin, will present the “Top Five Ways to Market Your Tourism Business” and Kerry Allison, executive director of the Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Commission will review the latest key tourism economic data and initiatives for the coming year.
Space for the Tourism Summit is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
